Essential details:IC697CPM790-GD 32-bit floating point and microprocessor

IC697CPM790 is a GE FANUC manufactured 64 MHz CPU with calculation capability using a 32-bit floating point and microprocessor 80486DX2. This CPU utilizes single-slot programming software which works with Windows or MS-DOS to perform configuration and programming.

IC697CPM790 includes up to 12K discrete inputs and outputs (mix- simplex mode only). It has flash memory dedicated for OS firmware, allowing firmware updating through the connection between PC and module’s serial port. The user controls module operation with programming software or via operation mode using the RUN/STOP three-position switch. A memory protection key or software password locks the configuration and program data.

IC697CPM790 has four green LEDs that indicate the status of the CPU. Fan assemblies are required for air cooling. The user can connect Bus transmitter module IC697BEM713 to the programmer for the parallel interface. A Type D connector with 15 pins connects the serial port, which is RS-485 compatible. During actual operation and power-up, the CPU verifies rack configuration while its alarm function reports any deviations in programmed and/or actual configuration. IC697CPM790 has a lithium battery that maintains calendar clock operation, data memory, and program memory.

It is important to note that module IC697CPM790 must be used alongside a Standalone C program, which provides Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) operating and autotest routines. It will not operate unless this program is included in the loaded application program.

Supported option modules are as follows: IC697 LAN Interface modules, Programmable Coprocessor, Alphanumeric Display Coprocessor, Bus Controller for IC660/661 I/O products, communications modules, I/O Link Interface, and the IC697 family of discrete and analog I/O modules.

IC697CPM790-GD 32-bit floating point and microprocessor

The IC697CPM790 supports Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR), utilized to allow the system without the chance of downtime. This TMR set-up is basically comprised of Triple PLC Racks with each rack having One (1) IC697CPM790 CPU, Triple Genius I/O Busses, as well as Triple input sensors and Triple output loads.

The IC697CPM790 comes with One (1) 15-pin sub-D connector allowing communication with RS485 compatible devices. Other forms of communication such as connection to a programming computer may be established with the use of RS-422/RS-485 to RS-232 Converter with part number IC690ACC900 or RS-232 to RS-422 Miniconverter with part number IC690ACC901.

The IC697CPM790 programmable controller CPU is also suitable for critical industrial and commercial safety-related applications such as fire and gas-related applications and ESD or Emergency Shutdown systems. It is programmed using the Windows or MS-DOS software and able to communicate with the I/O modules and the smart option modules in the same PLC system that it is installed in through the rack-mounted backplane. The IC697CPM790 programmable controller CPU cannot operate unless a Standalone C program is included as part of the loaded application program for the CPU.
