Overview

Essential details:193-EC1AB Allen Bradley electronic motor overload protection relay

The 193-EC1AB relay is an electronic motor overload protection relay made by Allen-Bradley. This protection relay provides overload protection for automation systems. Several features of the Allen-Bradley 193-EC1AB electronic motor protection relay make it ideal for applications in automation systems. These features include a modular design, integration to the Logix technology, different communication options, diagnostic information, and simplified wiring. The Allen-Bradley 193-EC1AB relay uses a DeviceNet module to determine and identify the trip status by monitoring reference signals inside the 193-EC1AB overload protection relay. When powered on, the DeviceNet module assumes that the Allen-Bradley 193-EC1AB protection relay is in a non-tripped state. To get definitive feedback on the trip status of the 193-EC1AB motor protection relay, the users can wire one of the DeviceNet module inputs with the N.O. auxiliary contact of the protection relay. The isers can then use parameters 40 and 41 to configure the functions of the inputs.

There are several options that allow the users to reset the Allen-Bradley 193-EC1AB protection relay by using a DeviceNet module after it has been tripped. The first option is to use the blue mechanical reset button, which is found on the front the 193-EC1AB overload relay. It is also possible to use parameter 14 to reset the device position. The users can also use the pushbutton that is wired to of the module inputs of the DeviceNet module, and then program the corresponding input assignment parameter to be a “trip reset” parameter. Before any usage, the device users should store the Allen-Bradley 193-EC1AB protection relay in an area with a relative ambient humidity range of 0 to 95%, non-condensing. Also, the users should never store the protection relay in a construction area, or in areas where it could be exposed to a corrosive atmosphere.
