1761-NET-AIC

Superiority products 1761-NET-AIC MicroLogix 1000 advanced interface controller

The 1761-NET-AIC is an Allen Bradley MicroLogix 1000 advanced interface controller. This module is classified under the MicroLogix 1000 series. It enables of DF1 enabled devices to communicate with DH485 network. It is compatible with MicroLogix 1000, 1200, and 1500 controllers and SLC controllers as well. The 1761-NET-AIC is powered by an external 24VDC power supply that is connected to the external power terminal.

The converter’s communication rate filter matches the network communication rate through the communication-rate selector switch. The 1761-NET-AIC is also compatible with SLC processors such as SLC 5/01, 5/02, and 5/03 processors. The 1761-NET-AIC can be used as a point-to-point isolator or an RS-232 to an RS-485 isolator. The 1761-NET-AIC can be mounted either vertically or horizontally. Communication to the module is supported through the use of the hardware handshaking or through automated transmission signals. The 1761-NET-AIC comes without a node address pre-associated with the network port, which allows the node address to be configured in the device that is connected through the port. The user should note that this module features a number of operational characteristics.

The 1761-NET-AIC is a DIN rail mountable or panel mounted component and powered in Two (2) such as supplying an external 24VDC supply voltage or via the communication cable connected to the device being bridged.

The 1761-NET-AIC Advanced Interface converter has Two (2) RS232 communication ports with physical interfaces of 9-pin SUB-D connector type and 8-pin mini-DIN circular connector type. This AIC also has a DH485 Phoenix plug connector to enable connection to the DH485 network. The communicate data rate of this AIC is configured via the provided selector switch mounted on the front panel of this AIC.

To power-up the AIC using the communication cable, it must be used with a MicroLogix or SLC Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Additionally, connection shall be established through the 8-Pin mini din interface as this terminal carries 24VDC power to the AIC. Furthermore, when intending to power the unit over the communication cable, the power source switch position must be in the “cable” option. In other situations, the AIC must be powered by an external 24VDC supply with switch assigned to “external” position.

The AIC converter primarily functions as point-to point isolator, RS232 to RS485 isolator and RS232 to half-duplex user mode ASCII isolator. It is designed to operate with a variety of SLC 500 processors such as 5/01, 5/02, and 5/03, 5/04, and 5/05 processors. It also supports MicroLogix and Logix controllers through the 1756-DH485 ControlLogix module. It may also be used with Operator interface devices, Personal computer serial ports or any 9-pin DTE serial port and Modems.
