The Allen-Bradley 1746-OV8 is a digital I/O module for the SLC 500 system. It is a current sinking 24V DC output module and it has applications in general use. The 1746-OV8 module has an operating voltage of 10-50V DC (sink) and 8 outputs with 8 point per common. It has a backplane current consumption of 135mA at 5V DC and 0mA at 24V DC. It has a maximum signal delay of 0.1ms in On-state and 1ms in Off-state. The 1746-OV8 has a continuous current per output and per module of 1A and 8A at 30°C and 0.5A and 4A at 60°C respectively. It has a maximum Off-state leakage of 1mA and a maximum thermal dissipation of 6.9W. It has a maximum On-state voltage drop of 1.2V at 1A and 3A for 10ms maximum surge current per point. The 1746-OV8 is also equipped with color-coded removable terminal blocks. For wiring, a pre-wired cable and a 1492 interface module can be used. The 1746-OV8 module has self-lifting pressure plates at the terminals that can accept up to two 14 AWG (2 mm2) wires. To display the I/O point status, it has LED indicators on the front panel. The 1746-OV8 is intended for use in a clean and dry industrial environment with a 0 – 60 °C operating temperature and a 30g operating shock.

The Allen-Bradley 1746-OV8 is a Discrete Output module. This module is part of the SLC 500 product family. It features eight (8) sinking output channels that operate at voltage range of 10-50 Volts DC.

The 1746-OV8 has a single group of outputs. It has a backplane current consumption of 0.135 Amperes @ 5 Volts DC with individual signal delay of 0.1 millisecond for Off-to-On transition and 1.0 millisecond for On-to-Off transition when used with a resistive load. The maximum off-state leakage current is 1 mA and the minimum load current is 1 mA.

 

The 1746-OV8 has a continuous output current per point of 1.0 Ampere @ 30 °C (86 °F) or 0.50 Amperes @ 60 °C (140 °F) while the collective continuous output current (per module) is 8.0 Amperes @ 30 °C (86 °F) or 4.0 Amperes @ 60 °C (140 °F). Each channel has a surge current rated at 3.0 Amperes for 10 milliseconds.

 

The 1746-OV8 occupies a single slot of the SLC 500 chassis. Installation to a distributed I/O station, extension rack or local module is supported by this module.

 

There is no actual limit to the number of installation instances of this module. Users may use this module as needed to meet the application requirement. The number of instances is limited only by the supported I/O of the processor or the embedded memory. Additionally, the number of racks and available slots may also limit the number of installation instances.
