The networks it includes (often referred to as subnets) are: ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) Network, X.25 packet data network, Public Switched Telephone Network, Public Telephone Switched Network) /ISDN (Integrated Service Digital Network), Mobile Communication network/Satellite communication network, FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface), Fiber distributed data interface) ring network, local area network and high-speed backbone core network. The whole network takes the WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) link as the high-speed channel of the core router to form a high-speed information transmission platform and interconnect all subnetworks to form a seamless coverage network.
Router: The core device of network interconnection, responsible for forwarding packets and selecting the appropriate transmission path for the packets (a packet is a block of data bits that can be transmitted independently).
