Overview

Essential details:SST-PB3-SLC Woodhead SST PB3 In Chassis Module

The Woodhead SST-PB3-SLC module is a PROFIBUS communication module that is compatible with Rockwell Automation SLC 500 series modules. The module has the ability to maximize the network flexibility by using the SST communication module for rapid communication to the PROFIBUS network. The module has a data space of 2064 bytes of input and 2064 bytes of output. This module is a cost-effective solution for connecting different CPUs in the PROFIBUS network. The SST-PB3-SLC module uses a single port and single channel for communication. The module is applicable with the SLC 500 series from Allen-Bradley. The communication module weighs 430 grams.

The SST-PB3-SLC module runs with 750 milliamps current and 5 Volts DC. During installation, the power should be turned off to avoid electrical damage. If there is electrical noise in the installation area, an additional isolation transformer should be installed near the module. The internal communication activity of the module can be seen on the front panel through an LED. The COMM LED will turn green when there is no network present. For a network error, the LED will turn red. The SST-PB3-SLC module can be configured and programmed by using the configuration tool. The module comes with a watchdog timer feature which runs after the module has been reset or fully powered up. A default time of 1000 milliseconds is used for the watchdog timer period which verifies the communication with the SLC processor. The scanner will fault if it does not get an I/O update within this time frame.
