1. Description
REM615 is a dedicated motor protection and control relaydesigned for the protection, control, measurement andsupervision of asynchronous motors in manufacturing andprocess industry.REM615 is a member of ABB’s Relion®product family and part of its 615 protection and controlproduct series. The 615 series relays are characterized by theircompactness and withdrawable-unit design.
Re-engineered from the ground up, the 615 series has beendesigned to unleash the full potential of the lEC 61850 standardfor communication and interoperability between substationautomation devices. Once the standard configuration relay hasbeen given the application-specific settings, it can directly beput into service.
The 615 series relays support a range of communicationprotocols including lEC 61850 with Edition 2 support, processbus according to lEC 61850-9-2 LE,IEC 60870-5-103,Modbus’ and DNP3. Profibus DPV1 communication protocolissupported by using the protocol converter SPA-ZC 302.
2.Standard configurationREM615 is available with four alternative standardconfigurations. The standard signal configuration can bealtered by means of the graphical signal matrix or the graphicalapplication functionality of the Protection and Control lEDManager PCM600. Further, the application configurationfunctionality of the relay supports the creation of multi-layerlogic functions using various logical elements including timersand flip-flops. By combining protection functions with logicfunction blocks, the relay configuration can be adapted to user-specific application requirements.
The relay is delivered from the factory with default connectionsdescribed in the functional diagrams for binary inputs, binaryoutputs, function-to-function connections and alarm LEDs.Some of the supported functions in REM615 must be addedwith the Application Configuration tool to be available in theSignal Matrix tool and in the relay. The positive measuringdirection of directional protection functions is towards theoutgoing feeder.
