National Instruments PXIe-5433 PXI Waveform Generator

The National Instruments PXIe-5433 (Part Numbers: 785117-01 and 785118-01) is a 2-channel Waveform Generator, which supports a frequency range from 0 µHz to 80 MHz. This model is designed to meet the testing requirements for engineers in industries, such as scientific research, consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, and defense. For more efficient test systems, users can combine the NI PXIe-5433 with the 600 PXI or 1500 PXI module series.

The NI PXIe 5433 has 2 independent, 16-bit, 800 MS/s, digital-to-analog converters (DACs), timing and synchronization, and SMA connectivity for signals up to 80 MHz. The two channels of the PXIe 5433 possess 512 MB and 1 GB storage capacities. This module can generate autonomous waveforms with a similar dynamic range and sample jitter performance.

The built-in timing and synchronization capabilities of the NI PXIe-5433 will allow users to communicate with switches and other instruments within a PXI chassis. Using the advanced timing features of the PXI chassis and additional timing software, synchronization of less than 10 ps between channels of multiple oscilloscopes can be achieved.

When the digital filter is disabled, the PXIe-5433 can accept arbitrary waveforms up to 250 MS/s. When the digital filter is enabled, this model accepts user-defined waveforms up to 400 MS/s. In this instrument, the two channels can start/stop generating signals completely independent of one another. The maximum voltage for this module is ±6 V into 50 Ω; ±12 V into High-Z. The NI PXIe-5433 PXI Waveform Generator is also capable of waveform scripting and streaming, which are advanced features added for better performance.

The following setup and environmental conditions are required to ensure the PXIe-5433 meets published specifications:
• The PXIe-5433 is warmed up for 15 minutes at ambient temperature. Warm up begins after the chassis is powered and the PXIe-5433 is recognized by the host and configured using NI-FGEN.
• All test instruments are warmed up for at least the period of time stated in the documentation for each instrument and self-calibration is performed. The warm-up time ensures that the test instruments are at a stable operating temperature.
• Keep cabling as short as possible. Long cables act as antennas, picking up extra noise that can affect measurements.
• Verify that all connections to the PXIe-5433, including front panel connections and screws, are secure.
• Use shielded copper wire for all cable connections to the device. Use twisted-pair wire to eliminate noise and thermal offsets.
• Maintain an ambient temperature of 23 °C ± 3 °C.
• Keep relative humidity between 10% and 90%, noncondensing.
