The fail-safe CPU is certified by TuV (a German security organization). Ensures that the control system switches to safe mode in case of failure. The name of the Siemens S7 series Fail-safe CPU is followed by the letter “F”, for example, CPU319F, where “F” stands for fail-safe. The difference between it and the ordinary module lies in its internal dual-channel design. The two integrated processors monitor each other and automatically test the IO loop, and put the module in a safe state after the fault occurs.
