Frequency converter is the power frequency power supply (50Hz or 60Hz) into a variety of frequency AC power supply, in order to achieve the motor variable speed operation of the equipment, the control circuit to complete the control of the main circuit, the rectifier circuit will be converted into direct current, DC intermediate circuit smooth filtering of the output of the rectifier circuit, the inverter circuit will reverse the direct current into alternating current. Classification of frequency converter

There are many kinds of classification methods of frequency converter. According to the working mode of the main circuit, it can be divided into voltage type frequency converter and current type frequency converter. According to the switching mode, it can be divided into PAM control inverter, PWM control inverter and high carrier frequency PWM control inverter. According to the working principle, it can be divided into V/f control frequency converter, slip frequency control frequency converter and vector control frequency converter. According to the classification of use, it can be divided into general frequency converter, high performance special frequency converter, high frequency converter, single phase converter and three phase converter.

VVVF: change voltage, change frequency CVCF: constant voltage, constant frequency. The AC power supply used in all countries, whether used in homes or factories, has a voltage and frequency of 400V/50Hz or 200V/60Hz(50Hz), and so on. Usually, the voltage and frequency of a fixed alternating current to a variable voltage or frequency alternating current device called “frequency converter”. To produce variable voltages and frequencies, the device first converts the alternating current of the power supply to direct current (DC).

The low voltage general frequency conversion output voltage is 380 ~ 650V, the output power is 0.75 ~ 400kW, the working frequency is 0 ~ 400Hz, its main circuit is using AC – DC – AC circuit. It has been controlled through the following four generations.

1U/f=C sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) control mode

It is characterized by simple control circuit structure, low cost, mechanical characteristics of hardness is also good, can meet the general transmission smooth speed requirements, has been widely used in various fields of the industry. However, this control mode at low frequency, because the output voltage is low, the torque is significantly affected by the stator resistance voltage drop, so that the maximum output torque decreases. In addition, its mechanical characteristics after all no DC motor hard, dynamic torque capacity and static speed regulation performance are not satisfactory, and the system performance is not high, control curve will change with the load, torque response is slow, motor torque utilization is not high, low speed due to the existence of stator resistance and inverter dead zone effect and performance decline, stability is poor. So people have developed vector control frequency conversion speed regulation.

Voltage space vector (SVPWM) control mode

It is based on the premise of the overall generation effect of three-phase waveform, in order to approximate the ideal circular rotating magnetic field track of the motor air gap, the three-phase modulation waveform is generated in one time, and the method of inner tangent polygon approximation circle is controlled. The frequency compensation is introduced to eliminate the error of speed control. The flux amplitude is estimated by feedback to eliminate the influence of stator resistance at low speed. The output voltage and current are closed to improve the dynamic accuracy and stability. But the control circuit is more links, and there is no introduction of torque regulation, so the system performance has not been fundamentally improved.
