Overview

Essential details:PCI-8252 NI Frame Grabber Device

The National Instruments PCI-8252 (Part Number: 779024-01) is a RoHS‑compliant, 3-Port Frame Grabber Device. This model is the perfect choice for machine vision applications where high-data rates are required. With this IEEE 1394a interface, the user can acquire images and power camera simultaneously. Moreover, fetching data from multiple cameras is also possible with the help of hubs connected to any of the NI PCI-8252 ports. For the deployment of a frame grabbing system in standard configuration (for one camera only), the user needs an IEEE 1394a cable, an IEEE 1394 camera, and a personal computer running Microsoft Windows (2000 to XP), with at least one PCI slot available.

This device comes equipped with three 6-pin, female 1394 connectors. Since it is a PCI based device, the NI PCI 8252 Frame Grabber Device comes with universal, 32-bit PCI connectivity. This Frame Grabber is OHCI v1.0 compliant and offers data transfer rates up to 400 Mb/s. In addition to the three built-in 1394 ports, the user can also add more ports by using standard IEEE 1394 hubs. The NI-IMAQ program, specially designed for IEEE 1394, offers an easy-to-use mobile solution that brings easy image acquisition from IEEE 1934 compliant cameras. The NI device consumes about 480 mW of power. It is equipped with 3 standard IEEE 1394 6-pin female connectors and a 32-bit universal PCI connector.

This software can easily be merged with the National Instruments Measurement and Automation explorer. Thus, the user can configure their camera easily. Moreover, users can also set up their system quickly by connecting a FireWire camera to their PC; then, they can start acquiring images immediately.

The NI device measures 2.8 x 4.8 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 to 60 °C and –20 to 60 °C respectively, non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 20 to 80% and 20 to 95% respectively. The PCI-8252 is designed to comply with the following electrical safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1.
