Overview

Essential details:PCI-6711 NI Analog Output Device

The National Instruments PCI-6711 (Part Number: 777740-01) is a 4-Channel, 12-Bit Analog Output Device. This model is designed to provide multichannel updates simultaneously for waveform output and control applications, such as power supply control, deterministic control, and signal/sensor simulation. The eight digital I/O lines incorporated in the PCI-6711 are 5 V TTL/CMOS compatible. This device also has two 24-bit counter/timers, external clocking, and digital triggering capabilities. With this model, the user can replace various types of instruments, such as PID ((Proportional Integral Derivative) controllers, function generators, and low-speed AVGs (arbitrary waveform generators).

To define common waveforms including sine or sawtooth, the NI PCI-6711 can be used to control an individual data point for the individual channel. This device is wholly jumperless and switchless, as it comes equipped with a NI MITE bus interface chip. The MITE chip acts as a bridge and connects the PCI 6711 to the PCI I/O bus directly. For time-related functions, this device utilizes a DAQ-STC based system timing controller.

The RTSI bus provided in this device allows the user a seamless synchronization between up to five DAQ devices in the user’s PC. National Instruments offers up to 1 Ms/S per channel data rates as it comes equipped with a dedicated, 12-bit DAC (digital-to-analog) converter per channel. The four output channels incorporated in this device are voltage output channels. Since it is a device compatible to PCI bus specifications, the NI PCI 6711 is entirely software configurable. This DAQ enables the user to connect each DAC to either the internal 10 V reference or the external reference system of their choice.
