Overview

Essential details:PCI-6602 NI Counter/Timer Device

The PCI‑6602 (Part Number: 777531-01, 184479-01Counter/Timer Device has 8 counters/timers, 32 bidirectional digital channels, a maximum source frequency of 80 MHz, and 5V, TTL Logic Levels and Range. This device can be utilized to generate many types of measurement solutions, such as monitoring position with quadrature encoders, counting events or totalizing, or measuring an amount of time-related quantities. The NI PCI-6602 Counter/Timer utilizes the NI-TIO, an NI ASIC chip created for the timing and counting requirements of measurement applications above the features of off-the-shelf devices. The device is equipped with a 68-pin male SCSI-II type I/O connector. Part number 184479-01 is the board only kit of the PCI-6602.

Several features of the National Instruments NI PCI-6602 include: debouncing/glitch removal, buffered operations, and pulse generation. This device does not have GPS synchronization. The PCI 6602 National Instruments can be calibrated. The calibration process for this device is timebase calibration, which guarantees the time and frequency measurements are precise.

This device has pad synchronization that is helpful when a few counters are estimating or working off a similar outside signal. For instance, assume counters 0 and 1 are designed for activated pulse generation and each counter uses a similar outer trigger (this outside flag is associated with PFI 38 on the I/O connector and the two counters have PFI 38 chosen as their GATE). After the trigger signal proliferates through the I/O pad, the ideal opportunity for the signal to achieve the GATE of each counter inside the ASIC may contrast by a couple of nanoseconds.

If the user needs to enable the counters to see the adjustments in the flag at a similar occurrence, they should utilize pad synchronization. Amid cushion synchronization, the flag is counterbalanced by one clock cycle.

The PCI-6602 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages or application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI. The NI device measures 6.9 x 3.9 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 °C to 55 °C and –20 °C to 70 °C respectively.
