Overview

Essential details:PCI-5911 NI High-Speed Digitizer

The National Instruments PCI-5911 (Part Number: 777478-02) is a 100 MHz, High-Speed Digitizer with variable resolution and speed. This model comes featured with one flexible resolution channel, which can operate with 8 bits at 100 MS/s and 21 bits at 10 kS/s. Apart from 100 MS/s real-time sampling, this Digitizer can also acquire random interleaved at 1 GS/s.

To provide the user with more storage space, there is a 4 or 16 MB deep, integrated waveform memory with multi-record capture mode. The data is stored to this onboard memory before being forwarded. This Digitizer offers low noise and low distortion performance whether the user is capturing transients, analyzing spectra, recording waveforms, or digitizing IFs. The NI PCI-5911 offers faster measurements across various applications, such as component characterization, semiconductor test, electronic test, and video test. To enable the user to cater to precise clock routing related issues, this Digitizer features a 100 MHz, advanced clock generator for the easy synchronization of multiple devices. The device is equipped with 3 front panel connectors – a BNC, SMB and a 9-pin mini-circular DIN connector.

The PCI 5911 can be triggered through three sources: software, analog, and digital control. An analog trigger gets derived from the comparison of one or two thresholds, resulting in hysteresis conditions. A digital trigger comes from the external digital connectors or the RTSI bus. The NI PCI-5911 capitalizes on the scatter-gather capability to achieve data rates faster than RS-232 and GPIB. This feature enables the Digitizer to bring a positive impact on the overall test time.

This model is run using the NI-SCOPE instrument driver which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, Measurement Studio, Microsoft C++, or Microsoft Visual Basic. The device has a warm-up time of 15 minutes. It can be self-calibrated however, external calibration is recommended at least once a year. The NI device measures 13.3 x 3.9 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 5 °C to 40 °C, and a storage temperature range of –20 °C to 65 °C.
