Abstract: This paper introduces the design of cold cathode ionization vacuum gauge, an intelligent monitoring node based on fieldbus for large ultra-high vacuum system (such as accelerator). With a fieldbus interface in line with CAN protocol, RS485/RS232C and an interface for interlock protection and rapid response, the vacuum gauge can effectively drive a variety of domestic and foreign regulations, with a measuring range of 1×10-2Pa ~ 1.3×10-8Pa, which is very unique in the field of ultra-high vacuum measurement and control. Because CAN bus interface and fast interlock alarm interface are introduced into ultra-high vacuum gauge, it is especially suitable for large ultra-high vacuum monitoring system.

Fieldbus is a digital, bidirectional, multi-branch communication network that connects intelligent field equipment and automation system. There must be a protocol for communication, in this sense, the fieldbus is a standard that defines the hardware interface and communication protocol. Further, fieldbus is not only a communication technology, nor is it only the replacement of analog instruments with digital instruments, the key is to replace the traditional distributed control system (DCS) with a new generation of field control system (FCS), to achieve the integration of intelligent instruments, communication networks and control systems. The new generation control system based on this bus is known as the fifth generation control system, that is, the field control system. Field control system is the most vital control system after PLC(programmable logic controller) and DCS. It can be said that full digitalization of signal transmission, full decentralization of system structure, interoperability of field equipment, full interconnection of communication network, and full openness of technology and standards are the most significant features of field control systems .
Several existing bus organizations and large companies have launched some fieldbuses, such as WORLDFIP, CAN, LONWORKS, PROFIBUS, HART, FF, etc., but they will eventually unify under a standard is inevitable. FF may become this standard, and other buses may become subsets of this standard.
The nodes of the fieldbus are field instruments or field devices, such as sensors, transmitters, actuators, etc., but they are not traditional single-function field instruments, but microcomputerized instruments with comprehensive functions. The research and development of field instrument is the foundation of FCS in the next century, the source of information industry, the production of measuring instrument departments will inevitably be closer to the field bus.
