Product Description

The GE Fanuc IC697CPU789 module is a 32-bit expandable Central Processing Unit (CPU) for the IC66 TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) systems. The single-slot IC697CPU789 module supports 512 KB of battery-backed expansion memory in the same slot. Out of the 512 KB of memory, a maximum of 200 KB is available for the user’s application programs and data. The IC697CPU789 module supports up to 12,000 discrete inputs/outputs in any mix in the simplex mode, 2048 voted discrete inputs, and 2048 voted discrete outputs. The module further supports 8000 analog inputs in the simplex mode, 8000 analog outputs in the simplex mode, and 1024 voted analog inputs. The IC697CPU789 module has the 80386DX processor with 16 megahertz of clocked speed. The IC697CPU789 module communicates with other PLC modules through the VME-compatible rack backplane.

The IC697CPU789 module supports various options modules, including an alphanumeric display coprocessor, a bus controller for the IC660/IC661 I/O, an I/O link interface, and IC697 series discrete and analog I/O modules. The OEM and system integrator are responsible for the proper installation and operation of this product. The PLC and module installation must comply with guidelines contained in the hardware installation manual. After the IC697CPU789 module is installed and the system power is turned on, the module should power up and the top LED should start blinking. After the completion of the diagnostics, the top LED is steady and both the second and third LEDs stay off. Now the CPU can be programmed. After programming, the toggle switch on the CPU can be moved to the desired position. The serial port supports both RS-422 and RS-485 serial communication protocols. The power required by the module is 1.6 Amps of current from the 5 Volts DC PLC bus.
