The GE Fanuc IC695LRE001 module is a serial bus transmitter module manufactured by GE Intelligent Platforms/GE Fanuc as part of the RX3i series. This module is designed and intended to provide communications between the serial expansion and remote backplanes and the RX3i PacSystems universal backplane. Its function is to translate the levels within the universal backplane to signal levels as needed by the serial expansion backplane. The IC695LRE001 serial bus terminal has a single slot. It comes with the RS-232 serial port for communication purposes and it has an effective data rate of 500 KB per second. Other specifications include a maximum cable length of 50 feet for the expansion backplane and 700 feet for the remote backplane. The IC695LRE001 module must reside inside the special expansion connector found on the right side of the universal backplane. This unit features LEDs that indicate the operation status of the module and the expansion link.

When a backplane power of 5 Volts is applied to the GE Fanuc IC695LRE001 serial bus transmitter module, the “Expansion OK” LED turns on. The “Expansion Active” LED shows the expansion bus status, with the LED turning on when the expansion module communicates with the expansion backplanes. The “Expansion Active” LED turns off when the module and expansion backplanes are not communicating with each other. The IC695LRE001 serial bus transmitter module also features a connector on the front side that is used for attaching the expansion cable. Other specifications of this module include 132 milliamps of current that is required from the backplane at 5 Volts and 0 milliamps of required current at 3.3 Volts.
