Description

Overview

Essential details:IC693PCM301 GE Programmable Coprocessor module

The IC693PCM301 isa Programmable Coprocessor Module (PCM) that is designed in compatibility with the Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Product family that is formerly manufactured by GE Fanuc Automation bus recently acquired by Emerson Automation. This PCM module supports Modbus and GE Fanuc’s CCM protocols via the integrated Single 25-pin port which is essentially a Two (2) port interface.

The IC693PCM301 enables extended processor capabilities to the host controller especially allowing non-native r 3rd party applications executed by the Series 90-30 controller through the PCM. Such application includes the Basic Programming Language (BAS) which is used to develop custom executable files for implementing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. Aside from this, the IC693PCM301 supports data exchange between programming terminals, CRTs, Bar code readers, scales, printers, ASCII devices, Remote Terminal Units (RTU) master devices.

The IC693PCM301 is installed to the CPU baseplate only except the slot reserved to the CPU which is CPU/1. Additionally, this module is not compatible for installation in expansion or remote racks and with embedded CPU models such as CPU 311, 313 and 323. This module comes with indicator lights particularly a Module OK indicator, US1 and US2 LED indicators which indicates the operation of the internally installed Two (2) serial ports. This module is also provided with a restart pushbutton to initialize the module without the need of restarting the whole rack or use of a software.

IC693PCM301 GE Programmable Coprocessor module

The IC693PCM301 comes with built-in 192 Kbytes of total memory with 47Kbytes allocated for Megabasic memory.

The GE Fanuc high-performance IC693PCM301 Programmable Coprocessor Module (PCM) has been designed and manufactured to provide additional processing power to GE Fanuc Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controllers or PLCs. The PCM comes as a single module that can be inserted in any of the slots that are available in the Series 90-30 PLC baseplates except the first, which should only be occupied by the whole PLC system’s power source. Once the PLC receives the addition of the IC693PCM301 Programmable Coprocessor Module or PCM, it will be able to communicate with peripheral devices such as serial programming terminals, computer monitors that are provided with serial communication ports, bar code readers, personal computers, electronic scales, serial printers, ASCII devices, or even with Remote Terminal Units that are configured to act as master devices.

The GE Fanuc IC693PCM301 Programmable Coprocessor Module (PCM) can be configured by using several protocols such as the GE Fanuc CCM protocols, MegaBasic protocols, Modbus RTU protocols, and the C programming language protocols. The total memory available on the PCM is 192K, of which 47K is dedicated to the MegaBasic applications. There are 2 serial ports available in the GE Fanuc IC693PCM301 Programmable Coprocessor Module, and they can be programmed to act as communication ports or MegaBasic connection points. There are also 3 LED lights on the front of the device, and they indicate the current operating status of the PCM and both of its ports. Another important thing to consider is the PCM’s internal lithium battery that enables the module to maintain the information that is stored in it by the users for a significant length of time in case of a major power interruption.
