Basic CPU module The CX1020 uses a 1 GHz Intel® processor. The controller does not require fans or other rotating parts. In addition to the CPU and chipset, the CX1020 module is also equipped with different sizes of main memory. The controller starts from the CF card.

The CX1020 comes with a 128 MB CF card and two Ethernet RJ45 ports as standard. These two interfaces are connected to a built-in switch, allowing users to easily create linear topologies without the additional use of Ethernet switches. All other CX Series components can be connected via PC/104 interfaces at both ends of the device. Passive cooling modules are included as standard. The operating system can be Windows Embedded CE 6 or Windows Embedded Standard 2009. TwinCAT 2 automation software transforms the CX1020 into a powerful PLC and motion control system that can be operated with or without visualization. Unlike the CX1010, the CX1020 can also complete axis interpolation motion with the TwinCAT 2 NC I.

You can add more system ports or bus ports to the CX1020 basic CPU module. The CPU module must be equipped with a CX1100 power module. The CX1020 can be used with all CX1500 series fieldbus modules and all CX1100 power modules of the CX series.

The CX1020 embedded controller is also available without a secondary cache (CX1900-0320). Compared to a 1 GHz processor with 512 kB secondary cache (L2), the price of the model without secondary cache (L2 = 0 kB) will be more favorable, because the CX1900-0320 uses the same 855GME chipset as the CX1020. The CX1020 features will not change, but the CPU processing power is slightly lower.
