Controller based architecture
The PacDrive C200 Controller is the smallest controller solution that uses the real-timeoperating system VxWorks. VxWorks provides logic and motion functions for a pro-duction or packaging machine. A PacDrive Controller synchronizes, coordinates andgenerates the positioning functions for up to 8 servo drives, which are connected viathe SERCOS bus interface.
Several standardized field bus interfaces are available: PROFIBUS DP, CAN, CAN.open or DeviceNet. A variety of standard HMl systems, ranging from low-cost textdisplays to industrial PCs, can be used for the HMl functions.The highlights:

Electronic servo drive systems replace cam and couplinggears and a virtual electronic vertical shaft ensures that the motionaxes are synchronous.Any pulse and angle synchronousmovements are determined by a central control.Unplanned machine states, such as stop or emergency offsituations or initialization movements can be realizedsynchronously.Dynamic changes of the goods to be packed or thepackaging material in the plant, (like slippage of the products to bepacked or expansion of the packaging material) can be registeredby sensors while the machine is running and eliminated bymodifying the coresponding drive movements. This developmentsubstantially changes and highly simplifies the classical mechanicalmachine concept. The structure of the packaging machine can bebroken down into modules that are easy to apply and can bestandardized.
