The A6125 Enclosure Piezoelectric Vibration Monitor is a monitor designed for the plant’s most critical rotating machinery, using accelerometers to monitor enclosure vibration. This monitor is often used in conjunction with other CSI 6500 monitors to build a complete API 670 mechanical protection monitor. Applications include steam, compressors and hydraulic turbomachinery.

The main function of the A6125 housing piezoelectric vibration monitor is to accurately monitor housing vibration and reliably protect the machine by comparing vibrations. Depending on the parameters of the alarm set point, drive alarm and relay, an alarm can be triggered or the machine shut down to prevent further damage when the vibration detected exceeds a preset value.

A housing piezoelectric vibration sensor (also known as a housing absolute vibration sensor) is an accelerometer or speedometer whose output is acceleration or speed. The housing vibration monitor provides vibration monitoring of the bearing box at acceleration or speed (mm/sec (in/sec)). Since the sensor is mounted on the housing, the resultant vibration of the housing can be affected by many factors, including rotor motion, foundation and housing stiffness, blade vibration, adjacent machines, etc.

When the sensor is replaced, many seismic sensors are replaced by piezoelectric sensors. Case measurement is common in nuclear power applications.
