Essential details:9907-1183 9907-1181 Digital speed controller

The 9907-1183 and 9907-1181 are digital speed controllers that are part of the Woodward 505E series. These controllers are designed for steam turbines, generators and other rotating equipment to control the speed and power output of the equipment.

These digital speed controllers are usually used in conjunction with the actuator to control the amount of steam admitted to the turbine by adjusting the position of the actuator, so as to achieve accurate control of the turbine speed. In addition, they can work in conjunction with other control systems of the generator set to automate operation and optimize control of the entire power plant.

Specifically, the 9907-1183 and 9907-1181 digital speed controllers have the following features:

High precision control: These controllers have high precision measurement and control capabilities to achieve precise control of turbine speed and power output.
Programmability: Users can programmatically set the parameters of the controller to adapt to different application requirements.
Fault diagnosis and protection: The controller has fault diagnosis and protection functions to discover and handle faults in a timely manner to ensure stable running of the device.
Communication interface: These controllers are usually equipped with a standard communication interface, which can exchange data and communicate with the host computer or other control systems.
In summary, the 9907-1183 and 9907-1181 digital speed controllers are high-performance, versatile control devices for a variety of applications that require precise control of rotating equipment speed and power output.

Product Description

Woodward’s 9907-1183 Human-Machine Interface can be outfitted with a NEMA 4X grade protective casing. While the casing is optional, it is recommended as it is able to protect the electromechanical components effectively from any permanent damage. The case is watertight, dust-tight, and suitable for harsh outdoor conditions.

The 9907-1183 model is equipped with a 32-bit microcontroller that allows the control of a wide variety of turbines, such as industrial-sized standard steam turbines, utility turbogenerators, and turboexpander models. It is able to be configured as a stand-alone device or can operate in tandem with an industrial plant’s DCS, distributed control system. The 505E controller is designed to operate extraction and/or admission of most steam turbine systems.

This Woodward HMI has a PID structure which makes it ideal for applications where it is required to monitor and control parameters like turbine speed, load, inlet pressure, exhaust header pressure, or extraction/admission header pressure. Via a 4–20 mA transducer and PID,  and ratio/limiter function, the 9907-1183 accurately controls extraction/admission, while protecting the turbine from operating outside its parameters.
