The purpose of motor control is to generate torque and maximize torque to improve motor performance. Therefore, how to ensure that the stator magnetic field and the rotor magnetic field intersect at all times is the core of motor control.

Since you want to control the Angle of the two magnetic fields, the first thing to do is to know the position of the magnetic field, the so-called rotor position – the reference. (This involves a very important Angle self-learning in motor control, which will be introduced in detail later)

After the rotor position is determined, the next step is to control the stator magnetic field position to 90° with the rotor magnetic field position. The stator magnetic field is achieved by controlling the three-phase alternating current (electrically generated magnetic), so the motor control is actually the control of the current.

As shown in the following figure, gray is the motor reference magnetic field position, pink is the stator magnetic field position, the Angle between the two is not 90°, so at this moment can produce a certain torque, but not the maximum.
