Both terms refer to an industrial device with the capability of displaying an accurate process mimic, providing real-time monitoring and control points of the process.

The 2711P-T12C4D2 main components include a display screen, touch input interface and communication ports. These components work simultaneously to implement the device’ intended functions. The operator interface is an analog resistive touchscreen with actuation rating of 1 million presses using an operating force 10-110 g. For communicating with Programmable Logic Controllers such as Allen-Bradley’s PLC5, SLC 500 and other AB controllers, this operator terminal is equipped with One (1) Ethernet, One (1) RS-232 and Two (2) USB ports. Ethernet port is used mainly for multi-node communication, RS232 is used for point-to-point, short distance communication supporting DF1 and DH485 system protocols while the USB interface is used for insertion of external peripherals such as USB, keyboard and removable drives. Additionally, this operator terminal also supports 3rd party, non-Allen-Bradley devices.
