The Allen-Bradley 1764-24BWA is a part of the MicroLogix 1500 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This part number is a base unit that houses the necessary MicroLogix 1500 modules such as processors and memory module. When installed with a 1764 processor, the base unit becomes a functional PLC.

The 1764-24BWA is an independently replaceable unit that allows the embedded I/O options to be maximized while the inventory stocking costs are minimized. It contains the power supply, communications port, and embedded inputs and outputs. The Bulletin 1764-24BWA Base Unit allows advanced communications with other devices via its Channel 0 port. It serves as an expansion I/O interface as required by an application. It comes with eight standard and four fast 24 Volts DC inputs and four 20 kHz high-speed inputs. The 1764-24BWA base requires a processor to function, it is compatible with either the 1764-LRP or 1764-LSP.

It has a 120 to 240 Volt AC-rated power line and 12 relays (two of which are isolated). It has an 88 VA power consumption, maximum load power of 22, and a power supply voltage of 85 to 265 Volts AC at 47 to 63 Hertz. It also has a 24 Volt DC Power Sensor specified at 400 mA or 400 µF capacitance maximum, powerful feature not available in other base units. The 1764-24BWA Base has product certifications for CE, C-Tick, UL, c-UL, and Class I Division 2 Hazardous Location operation. It slides together with the Bulletin 1764 Processor to form the complete controller. This assembly should not be mounted near power lines.

1764-24BWA Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1500 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)

The Allen-Bradley 1764L24BWA is a MicroLogix 1500 base unit. This base unit provides a modular housing. This base unit may be installed with MicroLogix processors such as 1764-LSP and 1764-LRP. Additionally, this base unit may be installed with a Data Access Tool (DAT) such as 1764-DAT. Other compatible modules for installation to the base unit are memory modules and real-time clock.

The 1764-24BWA MicroLogix 1500 base unit features an integrated Eight (8) 24VDC discrete inputs, Four (4) High-Speed inputs and Twelve (12) Relay outputs. This base units requires minimum panel space during installation. It may be installed using a DIN rail or with the use of mounting screws. Recommended installation clearance is Two (2) inches on all sides of the controller. This is to ensure adequate ventilation.

The 1764-24BWA supports installation of expansion modules to enhance the integrated features of the base unit. Compatible expansion modules are 1769 Compact I/O modules. These modules may be directly installed as local I/O module. Additionally, this base unit further supports an extended configuration through an expansion rack. This accomplished with the use 1769 expansion cable.

The integrated communication port supports interface via DF1 protocol in Full or Half Duplex. It may be interfaced with an Advanced Interface Converter (AIC) are 1761-NET-AIC, 1761-NET-ENI, or to a DeviceNet network through with the use of DeviceNet Scanner module 1769-SDN. This same converter may also be used to multiplex the serial port on the base unit which allows simultaneous communication of Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), programming workstation, device converters and gateways.
