The Allen-Bradley 1762-IQ16 is a 16-point sink and source input module. It measures 90 x 87 x 40 millimeters, runs on 24 Volts DC input power at a 10 to 30 Volt DC operating voltage. Its maximum heat dissipation is 3.7 Watts. The 1762-IQ16 enhances the functionality of MicroLogix 1100, 1200, and 1400 controllers. It needs minimal space and it can be mounted on a DIN rail or a panel mount. The 1762-IQ16 module is a sinking and sourcing module that regulates the current flow between the input module and the connected device. The devices on the negative side of the module are sinking field devices and the ones on the positive side are sourcing field devices. The Source devices always provide current to the Sink devices. The 1762-IQ16 module has a single status LED that indicates power and helps identify the source of all the problems. The module communicates and receives 10, 24, and 30 Volts of DC power via the 1762 bus interface. For wiring the input terminal blocks, a finger-safe cover is included. The 1762-IQ16 uses bit positions 0 to 15 of word 0 for the input terminals. The operation details of the module must be configured for each channel after installation.

1762-IQ16 16-point sink and source input module Allen Bradley

While troubleshooting, always keep a safe distance away from the equipment and always check for any changes in the program. The safety circuits should always be wired to the master relay in series. The 1762-IQ16 module should be installed in non-hazardous, dry, and clean environments with circuits that do not exceed Overvoltage Category II Standards. To avoid damaging the 1762-IQ16, take precautions to avoid electrostatic discharge and remove all power before performing any maintenance tasks. The 1762-IQ16 is an Allen-Bradley MicroLogix DC Input Module. The 1762-IQ16 is a 16-point sink/source input module with an input voltage rating of 24 Volts DC. This module has both DIN rail and Panel mounting options.

The Allen-Bradley 1762-IQ16 is a Sixteen (16) channel discrete input module that is used with MicroLogix 1100, 1200 and 1400 Programmable Logic Controllers. This PLC features a compact form wherein minimum hardware requirements to operate as a PLC are integrated such as Power Supply, Input and Output, Communication ports and Memory.

Depending on the MicroLogix controller used, expansion module support varies. If the 1762-Q16 is used with MicroLogix 1100, up to Four (4) expansion modules may be used. If used with MicroLogix 1200, up to Six (6) modules may be used. For MicroLogix 1400, up to Seven (7) 17620IQ16 may be used. Expansion modules are not exclusive for 1762-IQ16 only. Expansion modules may be a mix of any module in the MicroLogix family.

The 1762-IQ16 features Sixteen (16) sinking and sourcing capable channels. Each channel may be wired to a field input device carrying a nominal voltage of 24VDC. Each channel exhibits signal delay of 8.0 ms for both ON to OFF and OFF to ON transition. These input channels are ideal for interfacing field devices such as limit switches, relay and magnetic contactor contacts, proximity sensors and other discrete devices.

This data file contains the Input information which may be represented in binary, octal, decimal and Hexadecimal values. These representations are called Radix.

To connect this module to the MicroLogix base controller, simply interconnect the provided ribbon cable to the assigned slot in the adjacent module. The ribbon cable establishes the bus connection as well as provide power distribution.
