The 1756sc-IF8U is an eight channel universal input module. This module is manufactured by Spectrum Controls and is ideal for voltage, current, resistance, RTDs, and Thermocouple input types. It comes with up to eight channels of voltage that supports the above. The 1756sc-IF8U also features a 1000-Volt DC channel-to-backplane isolation that features 1000-Volt DC Channel-to-Chassis ground Isolation. The module also comes with 12.5-Volt DC Channel-to-channel isolation. The module comes with several input noise filtration features, which are selectable on a channel by channel basis, with the ability to customize the installation to ensure a maximum speed with minimal noise levels. The 1756sc-IF8U has several enhanced features, which include the 16-21 bit resolution with digital filtering, the ability to support user scaling, time stamping, and alarms. The 1756sc-IF8U comes with reduced system costs for unsurpassed flexibility, provided with a broad variety of input signals that can be applied. Used on systems that require a variety of analog input types, the 1756sc-IF8U has the ability to help users save money on input/output racks, power supplies, and enclosures. The 1756sc-IF8U is a universal analog input module that is manufactured by Spectrum Controls, an Allen-Bradley encompass partner company. Spectrum controls manufactures Logix compatible modules such as I/O and communication modules. The 1756-IF8U specifically offers capability of accepting a wide variety of inputs signals for measurement of different process variables. Compatible inputs signals are Voltage, Current, Resistance, Thermocouple, and Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD).

 

The 1756-IF8U specifically accepts Thermocouple (J, K, T, B, E, R, S, N, C), Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) (PT385/3916, Ni618/672, NiFe518, Cu426), Resistance (0-150, 0-1000, 0-3000 ohms), Current (0-20 mA, 4-20 mA), and Voltage (±50 mV, ±100 mV, 0-5 V, 1-5 V, 0-10 V, ±10 V) input signals. It is a single-slot module that mounts directly to any ControlLogix chassis such as 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A13, and 1756-A17.

 

The 1756-IF8U has an input resolution range of 16-21 Bits, depending of the selected channel filters. Selectable channel filters are 10 Hertz with an update time of 0.99 seconds; 50/60 Hertz for update time of 0.19 seconds; 100 for 0.13 seconds; 250 Hertz for 0.07 seconds, and 1000 Hertz fo 0.04 seconds update. For module isolation, the 1756-IF8U has 12.5 Volts DC channel-to-channel isolation; 1000 Volts AC field-wiring-to-backplane, and 1000 Volts AC field-wiring-to-chassis-ground. This module has an accuracy of 0.1% of range at 0 °C to 25 °C.

 

Recommended cables for terminating signals to the 1756-IF8U include shielded, twisted-pair TC extension wire for thermocouple inputs; Belden 8761 or equivalent for mV, V, and mA input signals; Belden 9501, 9533, or 8350 when the module is configured to accept RTD signals.
