1746SC-NI8U Allen-Bradley Universal Analog Input Module
The Spectrum Controls 1746sc-NI8U is an 8-channel universal analog input module for SLC 500 devices. The module is part of Allen-Bradley’s Small Logic Controller (SLC) systems. The 1746sc-NI8U is designed exclusively to be mounted into the 1746 input/output racks manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This module stores data from field devices like a thermocouple, RTD, millivolt signals, volt signals, milliamp signals, and CJC temperature analog data. The data is then available to Allen-Bradley SLC 500 processors which can take out information stored in the module’s image table. The Spectrum Controls 1746sc-NI8U has 8 channels, so users can connect up to 8 thermocouples or current or voltage inputs. Alternatively, users can use it for 4 RTDs or resistance inputs and 4 thermocouple or current or voltage inputs.
The module is equipped with 9 green status indicators. These are used to establish the status for each of the channels and for the whole module status. The 1746sc-NI8U needs 5 Volts DC and 24 Volts DC power supplies. It is power supplied over the SLC-500 chassis. The maximum current drawn by this analog input module is 0.12 Amps at 5 Volts DC and 0.1 Amps at 24 Volts DC. The operating temperature range of the device is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). The module can be installed in any slot of an SLC-500 chassis except for slot 0 which is used for PLC processors. Users can connect one 16 AWG size wire or two 22 AWG sized wires to each of the terminals. The device is UL and CUL certified and it is CE compliant.
