ABB, the global leader in power and automation technology, announced the addition of the REL670, a high-performance line distance protection device, to its Relion® family of products. With its comprehensive protection features, flexible configuration and scalable hardware design, this device meets the protection, monitoring and control needs of power systems for specific requirements.
I. Product overview
ABB REL670 is an integrated protection, monitoring and control intelligent electronic device (IED) for the protection of overhead and cable lines. It provides a full five-stage phase-to-ground distance protection scheme, including the choice of quadrilateral or ohmic circular features with or without series compensation, as well as phase priority logic and sensitive directional grounding protection for high-resistance grounding systems.
2. Technical highlights
Comprehensive protection: The REL670 offers a variety of communication methods, including split phase communication, to ensure correct phase selection in case of cross-line faults, as well as load impedance intrusion detection and power system oscillation detection (with additional logic).
Out-of-step protection: can detect the slip of the system frequency 0.2Hz-8Hz, and trip after exceeding the set number of out-of-step.
Directional power protection: includes backward power, forward low power, over active power, reactive power protection, and with phase Angle compensation.
Flexible configuration capability: The REL670 provides four segments with or without directional phase overcurrent protection, supporting voltage, current, or dual polarization, and each segment supports inverse or fixed time.
Synchronous, simultaneous detection and no voltage detection functions: suitable for single/multiple circuit breaker wiring, optional charging direction, two functional blocks, built-in synchronous voltage selection.
